One More Miracle Left

I had felt bad for weeks. Everything that I ate, I vomited. The only thinamg that I could keep on my stomach was Bojangles’ fried chicken, dirty rice, mash potatoes, and Wendy’s chilli and their frosties. Each time I urinated, I bled and was soiling my clothes. I had recently purchased Depends, so I could save my wardrobe. The only thing that I could do work related was answer emails. I barely could make to the second floor of my townhome. I could barely place one foot in front of the other.

On Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, after much prodding from my mother and sister, I decided to visit Urgent Care. When I arrived, my bp was 244/144, the doctor told me to go to the emergency room. I went to Wesley Long where they placed me in a triage room, and this is where the journey begins. After the examination, the doctor determined that I had two strokes and a small aneurysm. I was in the final stage of renal failure, and I would have to start dialysis. I never felt either stroke or the aneurysm, but I was in a very bad way.

The next day, I had surgery to place a catheter in my chest to start dialysis. For the next several weeks, I would receive dialysis three times a week for four. After several weeks, I was moved to the rehab floor, and I moved among speech, occupational, and physical therapists.

On April 28, 2022, I was released from the hospital to outpatient dialysis with a wheelchair as transport.

That was seven months ago, today I am mobile, except a cane, still on dialysis, praying for a kidney transplant.

Here’s what I know is that God had one more miracle left. My maternal grandfather died from a stroke at 56, and I had two at 45 and survived. Every time I get sad or depressed about my current situation, there is a spirit of gratitude thinking about the miracle that is my life. Stay tuned for more miracles!
