Eva Longoria: Black Jesus Forgives; Corey Does Not
Latina actress Eva Longoria set up a firestorm on Ari Melber on Sunday night when she implied that although black women contributed heavily to Joe Biden’s election, it was Latina women who are the real heroines of the election. Per usual, Black Twitter dragged her all over that bird app, to the point where she half retracted her statement and says she was comparing Latino women to Latino men , and that she didn’t mean to offend or imply that black women did not contribute more to Joe Biden’s election.
She later released a more advanced statement where she praised black women for consistently upholding democracy and carrying the Democratic Party, but it was too little, too late. Her intentions were clear in her first statement.
Let me say this I have a great deal of respect for Eva Longoria. I have followed her career since she was portraying crazy ass Isabella on Young and the Restless in the early 90s. I followed her on to Desperate Housewives circa 2004, and I’ve watched as she’s become a political activist, working not only on the behalf of Democratic candidates, but registering fellow Latinos to vote.
