Democrats: It’s Not The Messaging; It’s the Racism

As much as I am reflecting on the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, there is a part of me that has a little melancholy. A melancholy brought on by the fact that not much has changed in our country. Despite this victory, we have a president who is refusing to concede and acknowledge the election results, you have his supporters who are upholding him in this fairy tale quest, but most importantly , you have Democrats who are focusing on unimportant things, like why they lost certain Senate seats, unimportant slogans like to defund the police when in actuality the main root of all the problems related to the election and to the state of our country or related to one specific thing: racism.

Let us be clear Donald Trump received nine million more votes in the 2020 election not because of slogans, not because of his competence, but because over half of this country is comprised of white people who refuse to let white supremacy die. In the 2020 election Donald Trump received over 52% of the white male vote, 55% of a white female vote; slogans an effective campaign messaging do not change that. As a politician or political candidate, you could run on Mary had a little lamb, and still connect with the Republican base. Why? Because it was never about the issues or messaging; it was about the racism and maintaining white supremacy.
